After School Nature Kids Registration
Nature crafts, outdoor exploration, games and more!
Your child’s natural curiosity leads to exploration and a deeper love of learning about the natural world. We will explore the school forest, the forest trail to Tonquin Beach and Tonquin beach. We will learn about seasonal changes, local plants and animals and practice our wilderness skills.

What to Bring:
Please always send your children with rain gear and warm layers. Our weather changes very quickly here, so it's best to be over prepared than under prepared as we will try to spend most of our time outside.
At the Bell (2:45): Heather will pick up grades K - 2 at their classrooms and escort them to the program. Grades 3 - 5 are to meet in the Strong Start room. These instructions will be included in the afternoon announcements from the School.
2:45 – 3:15 pm: “Check In “ at the Strong Start room will include attendance, a healthy snack and setting expectations for the program.
3:15 – 4:45 pm: Instructor time outside – in the case of extreme inclement weather the group will stay in the Strong Start classroom (upstairs). The locations will vary depending on the day including the Wickanninish School forest area, the forest area in Tonquin Park or Tonquin Beach. We will have all parents sign a walking field trip waiver before leaving the school grounds.
4:45 pm: Students are to be picked up in the Forest area outside the school or in the Strong Start room on stormy weather days.

COVID-19 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Please read carefully the new COVID-19 Policies and Procedures by following the link on the registration form. You must agree and follow these policies and procedures to have your child attend the program. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family. We are trying our best to keep everyone safe and follow provincial guidelines. By registering your child you agree to the following points for informed consent.
Due to the current circumstances we will be giving local children priority registration.
Informed Consent: COVID-19
I understand that the children attending Tofino Nature Kids programming may not be socially distanced at all times.
I understand that the program educators will be taking all precautions necessary to encourage space bubbles between the students and will redirect them with positive language when necessary.
I understand that educators may need to physically comfort my child from time to time and only when necessary. This will be offered in the form of gentle hugs, hand holding and sitting closely should the child require it.
I understand that educators may need to help my child with toileting and that they will take proper safety precautions while doing so.
Daily Health Check
I will check my child's health prior to programs beginning each morning and will not send my child if they have a temperature, fever, cough or are sneezing. If my child has a runny nose, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, sinus congestion, unexplained fatigue, exposure to COVID-19 or has taken international travel in the last 14 days, I will not send my child to camp.
Sign in Procedure
I understand that to avoid sharing equipment, educators will conduct sign in and sign out of my child. I will give verbal consent to the staff person to do this at sign in and sign out.
I acknowledge that my child will be willing and able to take part in proper hygiene practices such as regular hand washing.
